Abstract
Effects of solvent treatment on the structure of PET film and the dyeing transition temporature were studied. We selected benzyl alclhol, formic acid, dimethyl formamide and dimethyl sulfoxide because of their similar solubility parameters to that of the aliphatic residue of PEI. The PET films treated in the solvents showed an increase in custallinity but a decrease in density compared with the original films. The abnormaly low density could be introduced from the internal voids formed during crystallization. A linear relationship was observed between the depth of void formation and square root of the time for solvent treatment. Data for dye uptake dependence of temperature were curve-fitted using 4th order polynomial regression program. The curve obtained was used for the computation of dyeing transition templerature(Td ) and the calculated value was compared with the value obtained by graphical methods. The Td values acquired using different methods showed a good correlation(correlation=0.91). Td oF the film treated with solvent decreased an Increase in treating time.

용매 처리에 의한 폴리에틸렌테레프탈레이트(PET) 필름의 미세구조 변화 특히 보이드 형성과 이에 따른 염색 전이온도(dyeing transition temperature, Tg)의 변화를 검토하기 위하여 PET의 지방족 부분(-0-CH2-CH2 -O- CO-, δ=12.1)과 용해도 파라미터(δ)가 근접한 benzyl alcohol(δ=12.1), formic acid(δ= 12.14), dimethyl formamid(δ=12.14), dimethyl sulfoxide(δ=13.0)를 사용하여 무배향. 무정형 PET 필름을 용매유도결정화시켰다. 용매유도결정화가 일어나는 동안 형성되는 보이드로 인하여 결정화된 PET필름은 무정형 PET필름보다도 낮은 밀도를 나타내었고. 표면으고부터 보이드 형성층까지의 거리는 용매처리시간의 제곱근에 비례하였다 X-선 회절강도선으로부터 용매 처리된 PET 필름은(010)면이 먼저 성장한다는 것을 확인하였다. 온도-염착량 곡선은 4차 다항식으로 curve fitting하는 컴퓨터 프로그램을 이용하여 Td를 계산하고 작도법으로 구한 값과 비교한 길과 두 값은 높은 상관성을 나타냈다(correlation coefficient, R=0.91). 또한 결정화된 PET필름의 Td는 용매처리시간이 증가함에 따라 저하였다.
