Cure behaviors and physical properties of EPDM vulcanizates containing commercial ground rubber (GR) and carbon black as fillers were studied with respect to the particle size and the amounts of GR. The results were compared with those obtained when only GR was used as a filler. The effects of both systems on scorch time, optimum cure time and maximum torque showed no difference. The major effect was due to the carbon black. When carbon black was used together with GR, the obtained tensile strength was higher than that of the samples with only GR. When the carbon black and GR were used together, especially, elongation and compression set were better than those obtained when only carbon black or GR was used.

EPDM 가교시 충진제로 폐타이어 분쇄고무와 카본블랙을 함께 사용하였을 때 가황물의 가황거동과 물성을 분쇄고무의 입자크기 및 함량의 함수로 조사하여 분쇄고무만을 사용하였을 때와 비교하여 보았다. 그 결과 스코치 타임과 최적 경화시간 및 최대토크를 나타내는 시간에 미치는 영향은 둘사이에 큰 차이는 없었으며 주로 카본블랙에 의해 강하게 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 분쇄고무만을 단독으로 사용하였을 때보다 분쇄고무와 카본블랙을 병용하였을 경우 높은 인장강도를 가지는 것으로 나타났으며 카본블랙만을 사용한 계와 비교하더라도 신장률과 압축 영구 줄음률은 크게 증가하였다.
