Abstract
The feasibility of determining the compositional heterogeneity of copolymers by thin layer-FID chromatography has been demonstrated. Styrene(ST)-acrylonitrile(AN) statistical copolymer products, which were prepared at different conversion of monomer to polymer, were empolyed as test samples. Good separation was achieved by developing in a concentration gradient, using the system of tetrachloroethan-tetrahydrofuran. By this procedure, the composition distribution curves of ST-AN copolymer products were determined. The result agreed well with what one can expect from the influence of conversion upon the compositional heterogeneity.

박층-FID(flame ionization detector) 크로마토그라피에 의한 공중합체의 조성분포결정의 가능성을 증명하였다. 시료는 동일한 반응조건하에서 중합반응시간을 조절하여, 중합율을 다르게 제조하여 얻어진 styrene(ST)-acrylonitrile(AN) 공중합체가 사용되었다. 전개용매로서 tetrachloroethane(TCE)-tetrahydrofuran(THF)계를 사용하여 용매농도변화전개법에 의해 전개하여 분리가 잘 이루어졌다. 이와같은 과정을 통하여 ST-AN 공중합체의 조성분포곡선을 결정했으며, 그 결과는 중합율은 조성의 불균일성에 영향을 준다는 기대와 잘 일치하였다.
