Abstract
Block copolymer of poly [(styrene-p-bromostyrene)-b-methyl methacrylate] was synthesized by the following method. First, p-bromostyrene was obtained from 2-bromo ethyl benzene by the bromination in the presence of iodine and then treated with ethanolic KOH. Second, Poly(styrene-p-bromostyrene) was obtained by the radical polymerization in the presence of CBr4. This polymer is named macrotelogen. Third, MMA was polymerized in the presence of macrotelogen in benzene solution. Copolymer composition and characterization were studied by NMR and TLC.

Poly [(styrene-p-bromostyrene)-b-methyl methacrylate] 블록공중합체를 다음 방법에 의하여 합성하였다. 첫째, 요오드 촉매하에서 2-브로모 에틸벤젠을 브롬화반응을 시킨 후 수산화 칼륨의 에탄올 용액으로 처리하여 p-브로모스티렌을 합성한다. 둘째, CBr4를 가한 후 라디칼중합을 행하여 스티렌과 p-브로모스티렌의 공중합체를 얻는다. 이 공중합체를 거대 연쇄전달체라 명명하였다. 세째, 메타아크릴산메틸에 거대 연쇄 전달체를 가하고 중합을 시키면 블록공중합체가 얻어진다. 공중합체의 조성 및 확인은 NMR과 TLC로서 행하였다.
