Abstract
Nitrile rubber (NBR) composites were prepared using the commercially avaliable rubber compounding process with Cloisite® 10A or carbon black as fillers. When Cloisite® 10A was used as a filler in the NBR composites, the mechanical properties, oil resistant, and oxygen barrier were better than those for carbon black composites. In cure characteristics of NBR/clay composites, scorch time and curing time were reduced. It was found that alkyl ammonium ion inserted in Cloisite® 10A was considered as an accelerator of vulcanization for NBR composites.

충전제로서 Cloisite® 10A와 carbon black을 사용하여 NBR 복합체를 제조하였다. 충전제로서 Cloisite® 10A를 사용했을 경우 복합재료의 기계적 물성, 내유성, 그리고 산소 투과성 등이 carbon black을 사용했을 경우 보다 우수하였다. 특히, 복합재료의 경화에 있어서 Cloisite® 10A를 사용하였을 경우 scorch 시간과 경화시간이 단축됨을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 결과로부터 Cloisite® 10A에 삽입되어 있는 알킬 암모늄 이온이 복합재료에 있어 가황 촉진제의 역할을 하고 있음을 알았다.
