Abstract
Natural rubber(NR) was crosslinked with dicumyl peroxide(DP) to prepare spherical NR networks. The molecular weight between crosslinks was controlled with a DP concentraction, and ranged from 2.6×103g/mole to 2.0×104g/mole. Carbon tetrachloride, benzene, cyclohexane, n-hexane, n-decane, dichloromethane, and tolune were used as solvents in this study. The degree of crosslinking of the samples was determined using the equilibrium volume-swelling data based on the Flory-Huggins theory, and the diffusion coefficients of solvents into NR networks were calculated using a diffusion equation based on Fick's law. Results showed thats the higher the degree of crosslinking, the greater the diffusion coefficient
