Abstract
The rheological properties of linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE)/ poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) blends were investigated. A rheological constitutive equation was used for describing and predicting the steady-state shear viscosities of pure LLDPE and PCL. The rheological equation of state in this study was found to be useful to describe and predict the viscosity of each polymer as functions of shear rate and temperature. The viscosity curves of LLDPE/PCL blends showed negative deviation from the log-additivity rule. A model that can describe the negative deviation, and hence the viscosities of LLDPE/PCL blends as functions of shear rate, temperature and composition was proposed here.
