Abstract
Thermotropic LCPs were synthesized and PC/LCP blends with different LCP compositions were prepared. The conventional polyblends were prepared from simple mixing of the LCP and PC. In-situ composite having the same LCP concentration as polyblend was synthesized from the mixture of two monomers and matrix polymer in a cosolvent. The thermal properties and morphology of the in-situ composites were compared with those of polyblends.

합성된 알킬 곁사슬을 갖는 열방성 액정 고분자(LCP)를 혼합 용매 중에서 폴리카보네이트(PC)와 블렌딩을 하였다. 블렌드 (polyblend)들은 LCP의 농도를 여러가지로 변화시키면서 열적 성질과 모폴로지를 측정하였다. 블렌드들과 같은 조성을 갖도록 LCP를 합성할 단량체를 PC가 녹아 있는 공용매 속에서 중합한 후(in-situ composite) 그것들의 결과들을 같은 조성의 블렌드들과 비교하였다. LCP가 3-10% 조성의 in-situ composite들은 높은 액정성을 나타내었고, 매트릭스인 PC에 대해 기핵제로 작용하였으며 상분리는 없었다. 또한 열적 성질 및 SEM에 의해 확인된 모폴로지 등도 블렌드들의 그것과 크게 달랐다.
