Abstract
Shear viscosity of a highly concentrated suspension consisting of an Engage 8407 matrix mixed with a Dechlorane plus 25 at 60 wt% was studied by using a plate-plate rheometer. The rheological characterization at various gap distances between two plates revealed no-slip of the suspension at the walls over a broad range of shear stresses in rotational flows. The apparent shear viscosity behavior of highly concentrated suspensions at high wall shear stress was investigated, and the no-slip layer thickness was determined. It was concluded that the rheological characteristics of the highly concentrated suspensions could be corrected by no-slip effects at the walls.
