Abstract
Emulsifier free emulsion polymerization of styrene was conducted with sodium 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonate(NaAMPS) as ionic comonomer and potassium persulfate(KPS) as initiator. The effect of concentration of NaAMPS and KPS on polymerization rate(Rp) of this emulsifier free emulsion polymerization was as follows : [NaAMPS]n where n=0.449-0.380 and [KPS]n where n=0.237-0.296 when the polymer conversion was below 40%. The dependence of polymer particle number density (Np) on [NaAMPS]n and [KPS]n was n=0.530 and n=0.395, respectively, under the same polymer conversion range. The rate of polymerization showed a steep increase between conversion range of 50 to 80%. Also in this range the polymer particle size distribution exhibited a bimodal peak indicating partial agglomeration of latex particles.

Sodium 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonate(NaAMPS)를 공단량체, potassium persulfate를 개시제로 styrene의 무유화제 유화중합을 행하였다. Conversion 40%이하에서 반응속도(Rp)에 대한 [NaAMPS]n 및 [KPS]n 의존성은 n=0.449∼0.380 및 n=0.237∼0.296을 각각 나타내었으며, 입자수 밀도(Np)에 대한 [NaAMPS]n 및 [KPS]n 의존성은 각각 n=0.530 및 n=0.395를 나타내었다. Conversion 50%에서 80%사이 반응속도는 급격히 증가했으며, 중합된 라텍스의 입경분포는 bimodal type를 나타내었다.
