Abstract
Rosin-maleic anhydride adduct (RMA) was synthesized from rosin and maleic anhydride. The polyamideimides have been obtained by the direct polycondensation reaction of the adduct with various aromatic diamines. The reaction was catalyzed by triphenylphosphite in NMP_pyridin solvent mixture containing lithium chloride. We varied the catalyst concentration, compositons of solvent mixture and LiCl contents to investigate optimum reaction conditions. The polymers were characterized by infrared, elemental analysis, X -ray diffractometry and inherent viscosity measurement. The viscosity of polymers ranges from 0.16 to 0.51 dι/g; the highest viscosity was obtained from the polymer prepared by reacting RMA with 4,4''-diaminodiphenylmethane. The polymers were either amorphous or poorly crystalline and soluble only in highly polar aprotic solvents. The results of thermal analysis showed that the polymers had good thermal stability with the initial decomposition temperature ranging from 366℃ to 406℃. The polyamideimide obtained from RMA and 3,3''-dimethylbenzidine had the highest decomposition temperature. According to DSC analysis of polymers, the glass transition temperature was over 260℃ and the melting point couldn''t be detected.

Rosin과 말레산무수물로부터 rosin-maleic anhydride adduct (RMA)를 합성하고 이를 방향족디아민과 반응시켜서 몇가지 폴리아미드이미드를 합성하였다. 반응에는 염화리튬이 함유된 NMP-피리딘혼합용제내에서 triphenylphosphite를 촉매로 사용하는 직접축중합법을 이용하였다. 최적중합조건을 검토하기 위하여 촉매농도, 혼합용제의 조성 및 염화리튬의 첨가량 등을 변화시켰다. 중합체는 IR, 원소분석, X-선회절분석 및 고유점성도의 측정으로 확인하였다. 중합체의 점성도는 0.16∼0.51 dι/g의 범위였으며 RMA와 4,4''-diaminodiphenylmethane 으로부터 얻은 중합체의 점성도가 가장 높았다. 중합체는 무정형이거나 약간의 결정성을 갖는 구조였으며 고극성용제에만 용해하였다. 열분석결과 중합체의 초기분해온도는 366∼406℃의 범위로서 내열특성이 우수하였다. RMA와 3,3''-dimethylbenzidine으로 합성한 폴리아미드이미드의 초기분해온도가 가장 높았다. DSC분석으로 중합체의 유리전이온도는 260℃이상임을 확인하였으나 융점은 존재하지 않았다.
